Da Nang has always been one of our favorite cities in Vietnam. With its laid-back coastal vibe, stunning scenery, and a perfect blend of modernity and tradition, it’s easy to see why visitors keep coming back. In 2025, the city is setting its sights on welcoming more cruise tourists, embracing the opportunity to showcase its charm to travelers arriving by sea.
A growing cruise destination
Cruise tourism in Da Nang is steadily gaining momentum. In 2025, Tien Sa Port is expected to receive 76 cruise ships, a significant increase of 41 from the previous year. This means around 70,000 passengers will be setting foot in the city, a rise of 64% compared to 2024. The figures reflect the city’s increasing appeal as a cruise destination and its ability to accommodate larger numbers of international visitors.
On February 24, Da Nang welcomed 2,400 cruise passengers aboard the Adora Cruise, which arrived from Guangzhou, China. Adora, the largest cruise line in China, operates vessels that can carry up to 5,600 passengers, making it comparable to well-known cruise operators such as Costa and Royal Caribbean. The sight of these grand ships docking at Tien Sa Port highlights Da Nang’s growing importance in regional cruise tourism.
Enhancing the visitor experience
More visitors mean more opportunities, but also the need for well-organized infrastructure and services. To ensure foreign tourists enjoy their time in Da Nang, the city’s tourism department is working with local agencies, cruise operators, and businesses to streamline arrivals and departures. Efforts include managing security, improving order at the port, and designating pick-up and drop-off points at Tien Sa Port and APEC Park.
In addition to logistics, Da Nang is focusing on creating engaging tourism experiences. The city is introducing new attractions and providing information materials such as brochures and digital guides to help visitors explore its rich cultural and natural heritage. By offering free travel resources, authorities hope to make every traveler’s stay as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.
A city thriving on tourism
Da Nang has long been a favorite among domestic and international travelers, and the latest tourism statistics reinforce this status. In January 2025, the city hosted approximately 719,000 visitors, of whom 393,000 were international tourists—an increase of 19% and 29%, respectively, compared to the previous year. The tourism sector also saw financial growth, with revenue from accommodation, dining, and travel services exceeding VND 2.6 trillion ($101.9 million), an 18% rise from the previous year.
Looking ahead, Da Nang has ambitious goals for the year. It aims to welcome 11.9 million visitors in total, including 4.8 million from abroad. These figures represent year-on-year growth of 10% and 17%, respectively, reflecting the city's rising popularity as a major travel hub in Vietnam.
A bright future for Da Nang’s cruise tourism
With its picturesque coastline, vibrant city life, and a welcoming atmosphere, Da Nang is positioning itself as a key cruise destination in Southeast Asia. The combination of strategic planning, improved infrastructure, and a deep appreciation for tourism’s role in the local economy ensures that visitors arriving by sea will have plenty to experience and enjoy. Whether it’s exploring cultural landmarks, relaxing on sandy beaches, or savoring the local cuisine, there’s something for everyone in this dynamic and ever-evolving city.
